Covid Collars

An entire world turns back the clocks,
Each day we all turn to the box,
It’s under control so they affirm,
When will our normal life return?

Society divides by colour of collar,
Home workers earning without bother,
The rest of them still pack the trains,
Begrudgingly to earn some pay

Where are you off to, haring along,

Darting across my path, with your legs so strong?

As I cycle to work, through hamlet and field,

Do you dream or imagine what your life will yield?

Do you have a family? Are you out for a forage?

Nature’s equivalent of my bowl of porridge.

And then you were gone, I was alone again, on my way,

Grateful that, for those fleeting seconds, I got to say 'hey'.
